WORKSHOPS
"Acrobats as musicians and musicians as acrobats" — The Freestyle Orchestra offers cross-disciplinary workshops that explore rhythm, balance, timing, and expression by swapping roles: Acrobats learn to think musically (phrasing, tempo, listening) and musicians learn to think physically (weight, momentum, spatial awareness). We share our process behind physicalising music and how sound can support, shape, and extend physicality. No prior experience in the "other" discipline is required.
LIVE MUSIC WARMUPS / ACTIVATION
As artists in residence at events such as the West Australian Circus Festival and Handstand Extravaganza Sicily, The Freestyle Orchestra leads live music warmups, creates improvised music in collaboration with movement artists for cabarets and performances, and leads workshops on the integration and use of music in contemporary circus arts.
VideoCHILDRENS PROGRAMS
The Freestyle Orchestra offers two contrasting choreographies incorporating simultaneous movement and instrumental performance, available for teaching at music camps and summer programs. Suitable for ages 8-18.
